GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTIONS
To be considered for a scholarship, you must apply for Federal Financial Aid, complete the application and activity information, provide one essay and two letters of reference. Following is a checklist with specific instructions:
APPLY FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and include the college you plan to attend. Applications are available in the Financial Aid/Counseling Office or online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
This form identifies you and provides the scholarship committee with information to identify scholarships for which you may be eligible. Please give us your name, address, telephone number(s) where you can be reached, email address, the school you are attending or will attend, and high school GPA or college GPA.
List most recent activities, volunteer services, and work for pay. Be specific regarding time spent and duration of various activities. Special accomplishments may include leadership positions, awards or recognition, or even and involvement in unique projects where you played a key role.
ONE REQUIRED ESSAY
Your essay provide the scholarship committee insight into your life experiences and goals. Scholarship committee members are looking for students who express a commitment and honest intent in their academic and career pursuits. Your essay should be written in your own voice, stating goals and accomplishments that make you unique.
Your essay must be typed or printed neatly in black or blue ink on white 8.5” by 11” paper. Include your name on all pages. Your essay should be no more than 300 words each. Please choose one question.
* Essay 1:
Describe your most significant accomplishment to date and explain why you believe it to be your most outstanding.
* Essay 2:
Describe your educational, career and personal goals. Explain how you intend to reach them through pursuit of a college degree or certificate.
TWO LETTERS OF REFERENCE
Reference Letters should be from people who can speak about your achievements (academic, professional and personal). In order to accomplish this, choose individuals whom you feel know you well enough to give specific insights into the strengths of your character, skills and talents, academic and leadership abilities, motivation and responsibility. At least one reference should come from a professional or academic source. DO NOT include references from family members.

ARTSCIRCLE SCHOLARSHIPS in amounts ranging from $500 to $1,000 are available to degree or certificate seeking students in need of financial assistance. Students who have applied for admission at a college or art or trade school are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
A scholarship committee, from ArtsCircle Board Members, reviews all scholarship applications and selects recipients based on: 1) criteria of academic excellence, community service, work or school involvement, and clearly stated educational and career goals as demonstrated by applicants’ essays, and 2) financial need as determined by an analysis of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). ArtsCircle will notify all recipients by phone, email, or letter.
The ArtsCircle Scholarships are made possible through gifts from friends, community sponsors, corporations, and foundations. To acknowledge their generosity, we require all recipients to submit a thank you letter and recent photograph upon selection.

GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION
Students who have been admitted or have completed all application requirements to be admitted into the Master of Arts or Science in the Arts in an accredited college or university or institution are eligible to apply for this scholarship. This application and the required essay (described below) should be completed and returned to ArtsCircle. Applications are accepted through September 1, 2013, for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Applicants must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the college or university listed where he/she plans to attend. Recipients are selected by the scholarship committee and based on financial need. Recipients will be notified in early September.
REQUIRED ESSAY
Applicants must complete an essay describing educational, career and personal goals, and explain how the applicant intends to reach them through a pursuit of a graduate degree.
TERMS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
Recipients must be enrolled in at least five credit hours of graduate-level work each term during the scholarship period.
